Angie’s childhood taught her how to survive long before she understood what survival would cost. Homelessness, teenage motherhood, family wounds, impossible choices, and later, cancer could have become the defining chapters of her life.

They didn’t.

Broken but Unbreakable is the story of a woman who refused to let where she came from decide where her family was going. It is about faith when there were no guarantees, forgiveness when wounds ran deep, finding purpose in what tried to break her, and doing the difficult work of changing what gets handed from one generation to the next.

The story begins with Angie as a little girl.

It ends with her granddaughter, a little girl growing up in a world Angie once could only have dreamed of giving her.

That is what breaking a cycle looks like.

I was not born into opportunity. I was born into uncertainty. At fourteen, one open door changed the direction of my life, but walking through it was only the beginning. The decades that followed were shaped by hard choices, relentless work, faith, family, failure, growth, and the determination to build a life beyond what my circumstances predicted.

From a teenage mom in an at-risk youth program to executive leadership, entrepreneurship, media, and award-winning television, my life has taught me that opportunity can change a trajectory, but what we choose to do with it can change generations. Every room I entered taught me something, stretched me, and eventually showed me the importance of opening doors for others.
